The College of Charleston School of the Arts is housed in the Simons Center that was built in 1979 to serve approximately 800 students. Since then, the School of the Arts has grown to over 4,000 students learning in different performing and fine arts capacities. The renovation of the 87,000 sq. ft. learning environment was recently completed. The project scope included a grand entrance and expanded lobby, new and updated seminar classrooms, renovated theaters, performance halls, sculpture, printmaking and drawing studios, private offices and multipurpose meeting rooms.
Wulbern-Koval Project Spotlight: Kion
KION North America established its corporate HQs in Summerville, SC. As the German parent company of Linde, Dematic and other branded product lines sold in the US, KION sought to establish a common furnishing standard that reflected the global industrial brand. In late 2021, Wulbern-Koval initially worked with KION Tradeport, one of five facilities in the Summerville area, to upfit its conference room, employee gathering and café area, a small work/lounge space and small meeting space for the site leader. As 2022 progressed, we were also awarded the space plan and furnishings work at its North American HQ operations at the Nexton class A office space. This included benching workstations, private offices, multiple breakout rooms, conference/flex spaces and an updated café’ area. Wulbern-Koval worked to establish the KION/Dematic Steelcase product standards while incorporating new furnishings to meet specific requirements per project. Early in 2023, our support of KION North America expanded to furnishing 5 training rooms at 4 different facilities. In addition, through well-coordinated customer visits and collaboration, we established a workstation standard with an integrated height adjustable desk and storage, whiteboard and acoustic-enhanced panels and power solutions. These workstations have been implemented at the KION Eastport warehouse and assembly site. Most recently, we completed the KION Engineering project that included multiple private offices, a new training/conference space and updated seating for over 30 engineers and technicians. We are currently working on a space plan to incorporate KION’s Steelcase Answer workstations for a new office area within the Eastport complex. |
